Year 6: Cherry

Spring term started with Art Week with the theme 'Who Am I?' Year 6 looked at how to create digital art, which involved taking photos of their portraits, tracing them and scanning the images into editing software. The children then used the software to edit their images and add different elements. These images were then put onto a canvas that the children had painted in a colour wash. The results were excellent! It was great to be able to share these during our Art Gallery open evening.

Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic time taking part in Bikeability, developing essential cycling skills and road safety awareness. Throughout the sessions, they learned how to confidently navigate different road situations, signal correctly, and stay alert to potential hazards. They also gained valuable knowledge about bike maintenance, ensuring their bikes are safe and well looked after. It was wonderful to see their confidence grow as they practiced safe cycling techniques, preparing them for more independence on the roads. Well done, Year 6!

Year 6 had a fantastic time visiting the SeaCity Museum in Southampton to wrap up their 'Titanic' topic! They explored interactive exhibits, discovered real stories from passengers and crew, and even stepped into the courtroom to investigate who was to blame for the disaster. They also took part in workshops where they learnt how to send Morse Code messages, looked at replica artefacts that would have been used on The Titanic and they also had the difficult decision on deciding who should be given a space on a lifeboat. A fascinating and memorable way to bring their learning to life!
