At Wisborough Green School, we know that if our staff, parents and children have a sense of wellbeing then we all learn and grow better. We strive to help develop children’s wellbeing during our lessons, assemblies and curriculum.
We are committed to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of our pupils and staff. We know that everyone experiences life challenges that can make us vulnerable and at times, anyone may need additional emotional support. We take the view that positive mental health is everybody’s business and that we all have a role to play.
If you have ANY concerns about your child’s wellbeing, please contact Mrs Barnard, our school Wellbeing Lead on: sen@wisboroughgreenschool.org.uk or make an appointment at the school office.
At our school we:
- help children to understand their emotions and feelings better
- help children feel comfortable sharing any concerns or worries
- help children socially to form and maintain relationships
- promote self-esteem and ensure children know that they count
- help children to develop emotional resilience and to manage setbacks
We offer different levels of support:
Universal Support – To meet the needs of all our pupils through our overall ethos and our wider curriculum. For instance, developing resilience for all.
Additional support – For those who may have short-term needs and those who may have been made vulnerable by life experiences such as bereavement.
Targeted support – For pupils who need more differentiated support and resources or specific targeted interventions such as Play Based Therapy.
Wellbeing Worries
We have introduced a virtual ‘talk box’. Children can message talk@wisboroughgreenschool.org.uk if they have any worries or concerns. Obviously, we want them to share any concerns with you, as their parents or carers, but sometimes it can help to talk to someone else. These emails will be sent directly to Mrs Barnard, our SENDCo/ Wellbeing Lead and Mrs Butcher-Collier, our Learning Mentor.
Staff Wellbeing
We have a staff Wellbeing Committee that meets every half term to make sure our staff wellbeing is being addressed. It includes members of all areas of staff. We know as a school that good staff wellbeing is essential for cultivating a mentally healthy school, for retaining and motivating staff and for promoting pupil wellbeing and attainment.
Resources
These resources are not an unending list but just a start of pinpointing some things that might help. We do not have any affiliation with these resources and do not hold any responsibility for their content. We have tried to keep these resources as up to date and relevant as we can. Feel free to contact us if you feel that we have missed any good resources or if there are areas that you are passionate about that we haven’t included.
Note to parents. Whilst many of these resources are designed for children, please visit these websites yourself before you show them to your children. This way you will make sure that all the content is appropriate for your child.
